The study of the history of the traditional themes is bound up with the study of the sources... in my opinion the sources are very different from the documents J (Jahwist), E (Elohist), P (Priestly Code), postulated by the commonly-held theory. I made every effort to note accurately all the linguistic details of the text, its grammatical niceties, its allusions, even its play upon words. It was not my object to defend any particular viewpoint or any particular exegetical method, but only to arrive at a thorough understanding of the Torah's meaning, whatever that might be.

If I had to use one word to describe this commentary I would choose, "meaty". There is a lot of information in this text. I believe that anyone who wants to understand the book of Genesis should have this book. I can't believe that as a Christian I had never heard of Rabbi Cassuto but I can understand why.

In my humble opinion, I would say that any library is without any of Rabbi Cassuto books is incomplete. It is a must have Commentary for the book of Genesis. I would also say that you may want to read his "The Documentary Hypothesis" book as he refers to it frequently in this book.

Also his commentary is unlike any Christian commentary that I personally have read. Do yourself a favor and purchase this book.

An accurate commentary of Genesis.

This commentary is very detailed and sometimes difficult to keep up with, but it does not compromise, and very clearly defends the literal translation of the most important section of the Bible. Perfect for Christians seeking truth!

About the Author
Dr. Richard Brynteson, is a professor, consultant, and speaker. During his 25 year career, he has worked and lived in South America, Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. His current occupational mission is to push the systemic, creative, innovative, strategic, and critical thinking of his students and his clients. Richard has a B.A. in English from Dartmouth College, an M.B.A. in Marketing from the University of Chicago, and a PhD. in Education from the University of Minnesota.

Many people think strategy is some mysterious process, conducted behind closed doors by people who have special knowledge or, perhaps, special powers. People hear of shadowy strategic cabals that meet to create a mystical thing called "strategy."

In reality, strategy is not a mysterious process. It's not complicated. It's not mystical. It's not difficult to understand.

Strategy is simply "a plan for gaining an advantage." Nothing mysterious. No special knowledge. But in fact, many of the people who conduct the strategic process do it very poorly. A few do it really well. And almost everyone can improve on their ability to think strategically.

We use strategy in almost every facet of life, whether we know it or not. Strategy can be as complicated as, "We are a multinational organization preparing multifaceted strategy to create a sustainable advantage with global competitors," or as simple as, "I need a strategy so I don't step on the dog when I get out of bed" (an advantage for you and the dog).

Strategy is about planning for a sustainable, competitive advantage. It's your plan to provide value to your customers or clients. It's your plan to get and keep customers.

This book provides an overview of strategy for the beginning strategist. The book looks at the definition of terms, the history of strategy, schools of thought, tasks in the process of strategy, some basic core strategies, and a little about becoming a better strategic thinker. The intended reader is the person who is making their first foray into the world of strategy and strategic thinking. The hope is that we can get our arms around the basics of strategy and build a foundation for the field. When we have that basic foundation, then future learning will make more sense.

Ken Williamson is a software engineer and architect with over twenty years of experience in the technology industry. Ken's first programming language was Assembly language using the 6502 chip. He moved on to C and C++ and eventually to Java and JavaScript. Ken has designed and written mobile, desktop and server software for some of the biggest companies in the world.

Ken holds a BS in Computer Science from Kennesaw State University. He is the founder of several Open Source projects including Ulbora CMS. learning ^bad AngularJS

I hate writing bad reviews because of all the work and resources that go into a book. However, I bought this based on the O'Reilly brand to help a coworker get up to speed with AngularJS. Within a few minutes of looking over the book I wanted to throw it in the trash. This book was released in March 2015 and claims to address AngularJS 1.3, but doesn't reflect fundamentally important changes to things like controllers. The first thing that caught my eye is it teaches the pre- 1.2 $scope binding instead of the clearer controllerAs/this syntax.. which is a big deal. There's other annoyances, like suggesting you spend time setting up netbeans or focusing on rest, but not mentioning the word asynchronous, much less discussing $q, .then, promises, or resolve. I've wasted enough resources on this book. The only thing I like was the amount of focus on testing, hence the two stars, but I doubt the reader could make anything worth testing based off the information the author provided. THIS WAS MY FIRST TERRIBLE O'REILLY BOOK. DON'T MAKE IT YOURS.

Great intro for someone who has experience with JavaScript, MVC frameworks, CLI package managers and Unit testing

I was starting a new contract that used angular, which I had never used before, so I bought this book and AngularJS Web Application Development by Matt Frisbie. I read this book fairly quickly, on the flight down to the contract gig. It was a great intro to angular for someone like myself who has experience with JavaScript, MVC frameworks, CLI package managers and Unit testing.

This book was way too basic for my needs. This may be because it's a year old and Angular is changing quickly, but I bought this instead of "AngularJS: Up and Running" because "Learning AngularJS" was publishing more recently. The book took far too much time on repeating its unit testing methods, when I really just wanted to learn syntax and all the features in Angular.

She was a Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities at the University of Edinburgh and was a member of many professional organizations.

Pages torn out?Wth?

The new version is somewhat expensive, so a used version could be expected to contain writing, highlighting, even to a great extent. But how can they sell a workbook that is missing pages? That is not selling the item as ordered. I have class tonight, and just opened this workbook to find the pages I need missing. Hate this company for sending a defective product! Do the used books they sell have pages ripped out as well?

About the Author
Isabel Azevedo Drouyer, studied history, art history and archaeology at the Universit� de Besan�on, the Universit� Lumi�re in Lyon and at the Universit� Charles-de- Gaulle in Lille, France. She conducted a comparative study of the iconography of Cambodia and Central Java (6th-11th century) at the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She has been involved in several conferences on this subject.

Ren� Drouyer, an engineer and former student of Fine Arts, is a passionate traveller and photographer. Since 2004 he has been a frequent contributor to numerous photo agencies. His work, photographs and illustrations have appeared regularly on the front covers of books, magazines and other publications.

'Thailand's Magic Tattoos' is an informative and entertaining book composed by husband and wife team Rene and Isabel Drouyer.
Isabel is a noted scholar on the history and iconography of SE ASia. Husband Rene is a professional illustrator and photographer.
Together they have produced a comprehensive book -- beautifully illustrated and a pleasure to read.
It is equally suitable for detailed study, bedtime browsing or coffee table decoration . Quite a rare combination !
Strongly recommended as the finest book available in the market on the subject of Thai Magic Tattoos .

I was just going to skim though this book looking at the photos, which I love to do in libraries, but I ended up buying and reading it. This book changed the way I saw tattooed people. I learn so much about this practice, I did not imagine that tattoos may tell a bit of a story about ourselves.
